Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi

independence movement. His concept of Satyagraha (literally "sticking to the truth") was based on truthfulness and
an active, but non-violent resistance. He led India to independence. In India, he was
awarded the honorary title of
"father of the nation". His birthday, the second October every
year is celebrated as a holiday
in India.
